Principal’s Message

August 2015

Welcome back to school Grizzlies!  I hope that all of you had a wonderful summer and have had some time for rest and relaxation. I am looking forward to a great school year ahead!

Welcome back to school Grizzlies!  As the principal of RMJH, I want to take this opportunity to tell you how excited and honored I am to be at a school, and in a district where commitment to excellence is the norm.  The entire staff here works collaboratively to provide a safe, supportive, and caring environment.  We believe that through respect and communication all students can find success.

We provide a rigorous curriculum, and offer many opportunities for students to be successful.  Classroom time is devoted to learning, and instructional time is used wisely.  Teachers use a variety of teaching strategies to engage student interest, and address the unique learning styles of each student; this supports a deeper understanding of the curriculum.  RMJH is dedicated to creating 21st century classrooms through the use of current technology, comprehensive instructional strategies and best practices.  Whether students are interested in athletics, the arts, leadership, or academics, they will find an outlet for their talents.

Late starts will continue to be EVERY Tuesday in which classes will begin at 8:10 am.   Buses will run on their normal schedule.  We ask that students enter school through the main front doors.

Parents we also need your help with the student drop off/ pick up area.  Please use the designated area located on the east side of the building.  Please do not drop off your student in the bus loading area or at the front of the main entrance or main parking lot.  We want to make our parking lot as safe as we can for students, teachers, staff and parents.  We appreciate your cooperation!

We want to welcome our new 7th graders and new students to Rocky Mountain Junior High!  We are excited for you to be a part of a wonderful school! We would also like to welcome several new teachers and staff members:

On behalf of teachers and support staff, we welcome you to the 2015 – 2016 school year.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me by phone or email if you need any additional information or have questions about Rocky Mountain Junior High School.

Go Grizzlies!

 Principal’s Message

February 2015

First of all, we would like to thank Sierra RV for their generous donation to fund our new computer lab.  As we continue to prepare today's students for tomorrow's world, this gift makes a daily difference to our school.

It’s hard to believe that we are already into 3rd quarter!  Grizzlies have been working hard and have accomplished many great things so far this school year.  February brings about some exciting events for many of our students. The 9th graders will be meeting with the Fremont High or Roy High counseling departments to begin their registration process for next year. 7th & 8th graders have also begun their registration process for next year as well.  The RMJH counselors have met with many of the incoming 7th grade students at the elementary schools to introduce themselves and to begin their registration process. The week of February 2rd - 6th is Counselor Appreciation Week! Make sure you take a minute and thank your counselor for all of their hard work and dedication.

Our students will be participating in the SAGE testing this month.  They have been working hard all year to get ready.  Good Luck Grizzlies!

Important Dates to remember this month:

  • February 16th No School President’s Day
  • February 10th Midterm
  • February 18th Parent Teacher Conference 1- 7:30
  • February 23rd  Honor’s Ski Trip

RMJH students are also busy with lots of extra-curricular activities this month.  The boys’ basketball team will be finishing up their season this month and have done a great job! The girls’ basketball team will begin their season on February 13th!  The Band and Orchestra will be performing this month as well.  Check out the school calendar for all of the exciting events that will be taking place! We love our Grizzlies!

December 2014

Our Sub 4 Santa campaign is off to a great start! During Den Time students have been competing in a dodge ball tournament.  The Den Time classes form a team of ten players and pay an entry fee for their team to compete.  All of the fees are donated to the Sub $ Santa campaign.  The championship game will be held during the assembly on December 23rd.   Students have done a wonderful job so far donating and participating in the dodge ball tournament to help out those who are less fortunate.  Our student body officers and peer leaders have identified several families in our community who are in need of some help this Christmas. The money that is donated for Sub 4 Santa will go towards helping these families this holiday season.  So far RMJH students have raised just almost $3,000! Thank you for your donations.  If you would like to make a donation please come into the office!

The volleyball and NAL teams had a great season!  Volleyball made it to the playoffs but came up a little short.  Our students are the best!  Not only are they athletic but they are smart!  Way to go Grizzlies.

We are continuing to work on our goal of having our entire 9th grade on track for graduation through our Back on Track – Grizzlies for Graduation program.  If your 9th grader failed a class first quarter please contact the counseling office to find out more information about how to get your student Back on Track!

Important dates to remember this month:

  • December 4th              Choir Concert
  • December 11th            Orchestra Concert/Band Concert
  • December 15th            Utah Jazz Dunk Team Assembly
