Principal’s Message

April 2013

Welcome Spring!  We are excited to announce that construction for the ten classroom addition has begun! Stacey Enterprise, Inc. construction company has already begun to tear up sidewalk and push some dirt around.  We anticipate the project will be completed by January 2014!  The enrollment at Rocky Mountain Junior High continues to grow.  The new addition will provide much needed space for our students. We are excited for this to be completed.  Thank you to everyone who voted for the bond!

April brings about many exciting events for students.  The counseling department will be holding the Reality Town Program for all 8^th grade students on April 12^th.  Reality Town is an educational program that gives realistic financial experience to junior high and high school students. Students are given an occupation and a yearly salary based on their GPA.  The students then walk through a simulation of buying a home, car, insurance, groceries etc. They must learn how to balance their budget and all of the events that happen in life. It is a great learning experience for students to help them understand the importance of education.

The annual 5k Fun Run will be held on April 6^th at Fremont High School.  This year the money raised at the Fun Run will be used to improve safety and security in the school. If you haven’t already signed up you can still sign up in the office or the morning of the race. Here are some other important dates to remember this month:

• April 1^st – 12^th Student Government Elections
• April 6^th 5K Fun Run @ Fremont High School 8:00 am
• April 8^th – 10^th Cheer Clinic
• April 11^th – Cheer Tryouts
• April 16^th Late Start
• April 23^rd Midterms
• April 22^nd – May 17^th Core Testing
• April 26^th PTSA/Fight the New Drug Assembly 7:00 pm

Baseball and track kick off their seasons beginning the second week this month.  We will also be celebrating Librarian Day on April 10^th and Secretary/Aide Appreciation Day on April 25^th. Please check the school calendar on our website for all of the events this month.

I can’t believe that we are in 4^th quarter and almost finished with this school year! It has been a wonderful year.  Let’s finish strong Grizzlies!
